MichaelJordan 240x300 Michael Jordan Wants Paternity Suit DismissedNBA champion Michael Jordan pleaded with a Georgia court this week to dismiss a paternity case against him. Jordan feels that the lawsuit claiming he fathered a 16-year-old boy represents an abuse of the court system. Pamela Y. Smith initiated the paternity suit against the 50-year-old basketball celebrity in the Fulton County Superior Court. According to a divorce case between Smith and her former husband, documentation suggests otherwise.

Smith reportedly met Jordan in the late 1980s in Chicago. She claims that an intimate relationship between the two produced the birth of the baby boy in 1995. Also named Michael, the teen and the retired player reportedly met several times during the course of the boy’s lifetime. Smith claims that Jordan privately on a number of occasions provided her family with gifts and money.

Usually court cases which involve minors remain private, but has become seemingly impossible with the uproar of media attention. The boy posted a YouTube video last Christmas claiming that Jordan was indeed his biological father. The woman maintains that she does not require the celebrity’s money for support, but that her son insisted on the lawsuit in attempts at making Jordan acknowledge the truth of their relationship.

The suit requests that the court order Jordan to submit to a paternity test. If proved the father, the documents further request that the athlete pay child support and contribute to medical costs. The boy also desires to change his name legally from Reynolds to Jordan. He also requests the possibility of obtaining a new and accurate birth certificate.

Pamela Smith claims that Jordan began fathering the boy several years ago in the same courtroom. In 2003, Smith divorced her former husband Glenville G. Reynolds. Documents created at that time state that she and Reynolds produced the child. Paperwork included the teen’s name and birth date. Smith signed the documents and a statement verifying the truth of the information contained within. At that time, Jordan filed a countersuit against Smith for the accusations.

An official hearing before a judge begins on March 12. If the judge requires that Jordan undergo DNA testing, the action may nullify Reynolds’ rights as the legal parent. Time will tell whether the court dismisses or reopens the case and holds Jordan accountable.

After retiring from basketball almost a decade ago, Michael Jordan retains recognition as one of the most popular athletic celebrities on the planet. During his career, Jordan received numerous awards that included winning the rank of NBA all-star 14 times and being named Most Valuable Player six times. While playing with the Chicago Bulls, Jordan participated in six championships with the team. In March of 2010, Michael Jordan purchased the Charlotte Bobcats professional basketball team.

Hundreds of thousands of men forcefully or willingly undergo DNA testing every year to determine paternity. Reports suggest that of all the tests are completed, approximately one third of the tests identify the man as the legal father of the child. Modern tests offer a more affordable and discreet option for evaluating genetic information. In most cases, individuals can submit oral swab samples by ordering an at home DNA test kit.

AncestralOrigins 206x300 Discover your Ancestral Origins with DNA Ancestry Testing Ancestral Origins DNA Testing is a way to discover more about your genetic heritage. Every person is born with their own unique DNA. This genetic information remains constant throughout an individual’s lifetime. Each human being’s DNA tells their individual story. It also charts the beginnings of humankind in Africa and the eventual migration of humanity to every part of the globe.

Criteria Used to Determine Your DNA Ancestry

The process of determining your genetic heritage is threefold. Ancestral Origins testing separates the genetic information into three basic areas; populations, indigenous regions and strength estimates.

Populations

Using a color coded rating system; your DNA is compared to all the populations in their system. The color green on the map shows the strongest connection to a specific group and location. The color yellow relates to a significant link to particular areas and populaces and red suggest little or no connection. There are also correlations made to dispersed populations. Dispersed relates to groups of people, who were indigenous to one region, but traveled to another country or continent. This pertains to more recent movements of populations around the world.

Indigenous Regions

This testing reveals an ancient ancestry dating back over 80 thousand years. During the history of humankind there have been notable ancient migrations. One of the first migrations occurred, when people traveled out of Africa and up into Europe, then Asia and eventually to Australia. The last two migrations were to North and South America and the final journey was to the Pacific Islands.

Snooki Engaged? - Image from EOnline!

Entertainment headlines have been buzzing about the initial news of a little Jersey Shore baby joining the GTL crew for next season. Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi shocked last week with rumors of a pregnancy and now jaws drop even further as she rocks a new rock on her ring finger. Can Snooki really be pregnant and engaged?

Snooki and her reps haven’t denied on confirmed the engagement and pregnancy allegations. But she recently stepped out for a stroll where she is filming her reality spin-off in Jersey City with a very blinged out ring on her left ring fingers. It is safe to assume that boyfriend and now fiancé, Jionni LaValle, popped the big question.

Fortunately the ring was to Snooki’s liking and approval because she was quoted as saying, “I know he’s the one so I know the ring’s gonna come soon.”

“Well, not soon-soon. He knows it should be big, cause if it’s small I’m saying no. Like, ‘get another ring!’” Snooki added.

Was this engagement pushed forward out of wedlock?

Is Jionni LaValle the Daddy?

Moving onto other Snooki drama, there is also news that a little Snooki or Jionni may be entering this world. Page Six claims that Snooki is three months far along in her pregnancy.

Ex-boyfriend, Emilio Masella has voiced some harsh words and told TMZ that he would “def recommend her to get pregnancy test to see who the father is because I’m sure there are other subjects.”

A paternity test can help Snooki and Jionni confirm that her husband to be is actually the father of this baby. (That is if Snooki is actually pregnant).

Making an average of $100,000 per episode and through her numerous weight loss and product endorsements, Snooki is currently worth over $2 million. A paternity test can help her decide whether she needs to rush into this marriage with Jionni.

At the same time, a paternity test can help Jionni find out about the honesty and trust behind his future wife. Has Snooki gone behind his back or made mistakes while filming Jersey Shore? Is there some infidelity that LaValle should know about now? A paternity test can help the couple find some serious answers to important questions.

One in every ten new mothers in the US is a teenage mother. Did you know that the US has the highest rate of teenage pregnancy in the entire developing world? With 745,000 girls under the age of 20 getting pregnant each year, what is happening in the US that is perpetuating this problem?

DNA test teenage pregnancy 199x300 Teenage Moms: Teen Pregnancy in AmericaThe rate of teen pregnancies in developing countries is much higher and expectedly so. There is a lack of sex health education and birth control options like condoms and contraceptives. In the United States though, there are numerous ways and places to get condoms and birth control pills, for free in some cases. And high school curriculums include sex ed for senior students.

Safe sex is promoted by a number of organizations including Planned Parenthood. But for some strange over $38 billion taxpayer dollars are still going to support and fund teen childbearing.

Fifty-nine percent of teenage girls who get pregnant welcome their pregnancy and decide to have their baby. Teen pregnancies are more common in some cultural backgrounds and the pregnancy is celebrated and embraced.

Fortunate teen moms have the support of family and friends and enjoy all the milestones that accompany a pregnancy. Like finding out the baby’s gender and choosing a name, the baby shower and so on.

Abstinence

The most popular method of teaching sex education in the United States is by promoting abstinence and virginity pledges. A study from Yale and Columbia found though that 88-percent of youth that pledge abstinence end up having premarital sex anyway.

The countries that have the lowest teen birth rates are the countries that advocate sex health education, open communication and sex reproduction.

Paternity Tests Shift the Role of Fatherhood

paternity test 300x102 Teenage Moms: Teen Pregnancy in America

It is apparent that the times have changed since the 1950s when the nuclear family dominated American neighborhoods of suburbia and white picket fences. The once defined roles of men and women in society and in their families have since been broken.

Women are no longer designated to the homes and men are no longer the only sources of income for the family.

The one factor that hasn’t changed is the social stigma that accompanies teen pregnancies. Forty-percent of births are out of marriage. And nearly 80-percent of fathers of children born to teenage parents do not get married.

Many teenage dads demand paternity tests to prove their paternity. The newest and risk-free prenatal test, the Non-invasive Prenatal Paternity Test, analyzes circulating cell-free fetal DNA in the mother’s blood to narrow down paternity.

Paternity often becomes an issue in court when biological fathers refuse to pay child support or deny their responsibility. This is when DNA and genetic testing is ordered by the courts.

Abortions

One of the most difficult decisions a pregnant woman will ever have to make, teenager or adult, is the decision to go through with an abortion. In America, 27-percent of teen pregnancies end in abortion.

A child’s chance of growing up in poverty is nine times greater than other children if the following three factors are true: they were a teenage pregnancy, their parents were not married and their mother has no high school diploma or GED.

Unfortunately those socioeconomic factors are prominent in teen pregnancies. In recent years to try and prevent teenage pregnancies the government has made more initiatives to provide sexual education about reproduction and STDs especially in inner city neighborhoods.

Why do you think the US has the highest rate of teen pregnancies among developed countries? And what can we do to change that?

In high school Steve Jobs fathered a child.

Though the renowned entrepreneur and tech genius, Steve Jobs, led a guarded personal life, it had been no secret that he was adopted. Steve Jobs had a dramatic biological family background, with a less than traditional relationship with that part of his past. In 1955 Steve Jobs was born and immediately put up for adoption. Years later he would experience a similar situation when his high school sweetheart would give birth a baby girl that Jobs would remain estranged from for many years.

It is hard to believe that a man who dropped out of college to pursue spiritual enlightenment with a pilgrimage to India would actually deny what he probably always knew. On May 17, 1978 his then high school girlfriend gave birth to his daughter Lisa. For two years Jobs denied paternity and refused to accept his responsibilities as a father.

Going back to his past, Steve’s own biological father played that same role, abandoning his family. Shortly after Steve Jobs was put up for adoption, his biological parents actually ended up marrying and having a daughter. But shortly after Steve’s sister was born in 1962, his father, Abdulfattah “John” Jandali, left his family and filed for divorce.

Maybe it was Steve’s own issues with his own family history that caused him to react the way he did towards his daughter Lisa. Finally in 1986 Jobs acknowledged paternity for Lisa and the father and daughter were able to start building a relationship.

Though Steve Jobs went as far as swearing in court that he was “sterile and infertile, and as a result thereof, did not have the physical capacity to procreate a child.” Around the time of Lisa’s birth, an Apple computer was actually named the Apple Lisa computer. Jobs claimed that it had nothing to do with his daughter and that the name came from the acronym “Local Integrated Software Architecture.” Only Steve Jobs will ever really know the truth.
