We have always known that President Barack Obama had a black father from Kenya and his mother was a white woman from Hawaii. New DNA evidence suggests that Barack Obama’s Mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, is a direct descendent of the first black slaves in America.
A DNA test was used and the results of the analysis prove that Barack Obama’s mother is the 10th great-grand-daughter of John Punch. John Punch was an indentured servant who later became a slave for the rest of his life after he was caught trying to escape to freedom.
John Punch had children with a white woman. The white mother was able to ensure that their children would be free and not slaves. Their children became very successful in Colonial Virginia, and through the years the family continued on clear on down to Barack Obama and his children. It is truly amazing that a slave can be treated so terribly yet 11 generations later his direct descendent, Barack Obama, is the President of the United States!
The genealogy site that did the research feels confident in their DNA test results that show a direct connection between Barack Obama and John Punch; although they have asked for an independent and neutral third party to go over and review the results to further verify their research and the authenticity of it.DNA testing was done using the Y-DNA. This is a common method to determining who your ancestors are and what ethnicity. We knew that Barack Obama had Y-DNA that proved he was of African American ancestry from his father’s side, but the fact that the connection came from his white mother’s side is literally astounding. Many people of all races have been able to use this type of testing and genealogy research to learn that they are direct ancestors of slaves; however the connection to Barack Obama from his mother’s side took most people by surprise.
This information has been released prior to the Presidential election that will be pitting Obama against Mitt Romney. Some political analysts are viewing this as a calculated move from the liberal media to cast Obama in a new light; however many other people think the genealogy website that did the research is simply trying to drum up some new business. Regardless of how you view it, the evidence is out there that shows this to be very probable that Barack Obama is a direct ancestor of the black slave John Punch from his mother’s side. Once a third party verifies the DNA testand other evidence we will have conclusive evidence as to whether this is accurate or not.
