If you ever had the chance to travel to Brazil, one of the many places you may want to visit while on your trip would be Candido Godoi, the town known as Twin Town. Twin Town is known for having an astonishing number of twins all which have been born and raised in the same village. Can this have just been fate that led to 1 in 5 births resulting in twins when the average in the United States is 1 in 80 births or is there a person or method behind this twin madness?
It had been said that the Nazi Doctor Josef Mengele is responsible for the surprising number of twins being born in this village. During the Holocaust Josef Mengele, known as the Angel of Death, was commissioned by Adolf Hitler to artificially increase the Aryan birthrate in order to create a master race. After the Holocaust ended it was said that Mengele went to Argentina and continued his research on Twins in Candido Godoi.
Argentine historian Jorge Camarasa was the man who took much interest in Mengele’s research. Camarasa believe that the number of twins being born in this small town was too alarming to be coincidental. After questioning the townspeople of Candido Godoi, he is convinced that Mengele continued his genetic experiments with twins with shocking results. What is even more startling is that the majority of the twins were born with blue eyes and blonde hair! There are other reports that Twin Town has been the home of an odd number of twins since 1927-way before Mengele ever set foot inside the Brazilian town! Was this the work of Mengele after all? Or is it just one of those DNA phenomenon’s? Were all the twins identical or fraternal? This sounds like a job for GTL!
